This is not a drill! “Coming to America” 2 is in the making!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a “Coming to America” sequel is in the works that will be penned by the writers of the original 1988 film, Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield.
In the first movie, Murphy played Prince Akeem, who travelled from his wealthy African country to Queens, New York, to escape an arranged marriage and find a wife who will love him in spite of his title.
Eddie Murphy jumped on Twitter to ask one simple question. He wrote, “Coming to America sequel?” Though it was quickly deleted, that innocent tweet got people extremely curious.
Arsenio Hall and James Earl Jones also starred in the comedy, along with Shari Headley and John Amos.
The original film, directed by John Landis, focuses on Murphy’s Prince Akeem leaving the fictional African nation of Zamunda for America in hopes of finding a bride.
Stay tuned for more details and developments of this sequel.
