The wait is finally over,   Leonardo DiCaprio wins his Oscar!

Wearing an Armani Tuxedo suit,  has finally claimed an Oscar earlier this evening’s 88th Academy Awards ceremony in Hollywood.

After a long and rich acting career and  several nominations , the 41-year-old took the honour for his performance in The Revenant, as a Leading Actor. Thanking The Academy, directors and actors who have helped him across a triumphant career, DiCaprio also used his speech to make a point about climate change and to petition world leaders to take it seriously.

“Climate change is real – it is happening right now,” said DiCaprio. “It is the most urgent threat facing our species, and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating.”

He added: “Let us not take this planet for granted. I do not take tonight for granted.”

Chris Rock lit up the ceremony with a great moments of humour by saying  he had “counted at least 15 black people” in the montage that opened the ceremony, before welcoming people to the “white People’s Choice awards”.
To finish, Spotlight took home the best picture Oscar with Mad Max: Fury Road picking up the most awards of the night, with six accolades.
